Our state-of-the-art cosmetic surgery centers in the Atlanta, Georgia and Lake Oconee area provide patients with unrivaled facelift and eyelid surgery procedures, in addition to forehead lifts, rhinoplasty, chin implants, and more. After facial cosmetic surgery, many of our patients take advantage of our Atlanta-area dermatology services.
Facelift is a procedure designed to correct signs of aging in the lower two-thirds of the face. Our Atlanta, Georgia and Lake Oconee area practice uses the latest facelift techniques to ensure natural looking results.
In the past, facelift only addressed the skin, often resulting in an unnatural, "overly pulled" appearance and a quick return of the wrinkles the surgery was meant to eliminate. However, since that time, surgeons have recognized that aging is not limited to the skin's surface. Muscles and connective tissue (fascia) also stretch as we grow older, and the collagen that supports smooth skin below the surface shrinks, causing wrinkles, deeper smile lines, and thinner lips. Furthermore, osteoporosis often causes facial bones to shrink, especially the jawbone.
When performing a facelift, our surgeons place inconspicuous incisions around the ear and above the hairline. Excess tissue is removed and all layers of the face are tightened to produce a smoother, more youthful cheek, jaw, and neck contour. Care is always taken to create a natural, rested appearance without any evidence of surgery. In some cases, other treatments are used to enhance facelift results. These may include lip augmentation, chin and cheek augmentation, eyelid surgery, brow lift, and BOTOX® Cosmetic injections.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is one of the most popular facial plastic surgery procedures. One reason for its popularity is that the area around the eyes is typically the first part of the face to show signs of aging; since the eyes are the focal point of the face, correcting this area can instantly refresh a patient's appearance. Additionally, since eyelid skin heals very well, scars fade quickly and are hard to detect.
The modern techniques used at our Atlanta, Georgia and Lake Oconee area centers for eyelid surgery address more than just an excess of skin. We can also use blepharoplasty to treat excessive fatty deposits; loosened muscles that create a droopy lid and visual blockage (ptosis); asymmetries of the eyes; and rounding of the lower lid that results in shortened horizontal length of the eye, dryness, and a saddened appearance.
When performing blepharoplasty on the upper eyelids, our surgeons make a small incision in the eye's natural crease to remove excess skin, muscle, and fatty tissue. Occasionally, a crease is made in the eyelid to hide an incision and to create a more open appearance.
To treat the lower eyelids, our surgeons first remove prominent fatty tissue through a small hidden incision behind the eyelid. Excess skin is then removed through another small hidden incision just below the lashes, and the outer junction of the eyelids is lifted to reduce drooping.
Blepharoplasty is both minimally invasive and highly effective. Your first eyelid surgery procedure is usually performed under light general anesthesia. Subsequent maintenance procedures, in which we remove slight excesses of skin, can be performed under local anesthesia. In some cases, other treatments are performed to complement the benefits of eyelid surgery. These may include facelift, brow lift, or BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Forehead lift can give the upper third of the face the same youthful appearance that facelift gives the lower two-thirds. A sagging forehead with deep horizontal lines can make a person look angry or tired. Smoothing the forehead restores a rested, relaxed appearance.
During forehead lift, also known as brow lift, your surgeon will make an incision across the top of the forehead at the hairline to lift and remove excess skin and tighten muscles. The placement of the incision will minimize visible scarring.
Some patients may be candidates for endoscopic forehead lift. To perform this procedure, the surgeon places a camera on the end of a narrow tube and inserts the tube into one of several small incisions above the hairline. Then, special instruments are used to tighten tissue and hold it in place. This procedure is less invasive and results in much quicker healing than the standard procedure.
Cosmetic nasal surgery, or rhinoplasty, is one of the most common procedures in facial plastic surgery. More progress has been made in rhinoplasty than just about any other plastic surgery procedure. Results have become more predictable, individualized, and, most importantly, natural looking.
Most commonly, rhinoplasty is used to reduce a prominent bump on the bridge of the nose, to narrow a wide nose, or to reduce a bulbous tip, in each case refining the face by improving balance and definition.
For those with a smaller nose resulting from genetics, trauma, or excessive reduction from a previous surgery, enlarging or building up the nose can produce substantial aesthetic improvement. In some cases, cartilage grafts are taken from the ear, the ribs, or the nose itself for structural support. Implants can also be used to build up the profile.
Nasal surgery is not always strictly a matter of improving outward appearance. The nose is also an airway that enables our sense of smell. Nasal surgery is often required to clear this airway. One procedure is septoplasty, which involves straightening the septum (the partition in the middle of the nose). Another is turbinate reduction, which entails shrinking the excessive mucous membranes on the outer nasal cavity. Unlike cosmetic rhinoplasty, septoplasty and turbinate reduction may be covered by insurance.
Many patients receive additional treatments, such as placement of chin implants, to compliment the results of nasal surgery.

Like the eyes, the lips and the mouth area can show signs of aging, primarily thinning due to loss of collagen and muscle. Thinning of the lips leads to flattening around the mouth and fine lines within, above, and below the lips. The toll that aging takes on the lips has led to one of the most popular treatments today: lip augmentation. The goal of the procedure is to create a youthful looking mouth that compliments the overall appearance of the face. It is important that this treatment be customized to a patient's needs. Some lip augmentations result in lips that are too full for the face and obviously not natural looking. At Aesthetic Specialty Centre, we will help you attain lips that appear full, yet natural.
There are several ways to rejuvenate the mouth area. The most popular treatment at Aesthetic Specialty Centre is permanent lip augmentation, using an FDA-approved product called Advanta™. Soft strands of this material are placed deep within the lip to restore youthful fullness. Advanta™ does not disintegrate; it remains in place within its own pocket, and is soft, much like the lip muscle. It moves with normal mouth movements and is virtually unnoticeable. Advanta™ is extremely well tolerated in the body, with only a minor risk of infection. When infection does occur, it is easily treated. Patients can take comfort in the fact that Advanta™ is removable.
Some patients benefit from a surgical approach to lip enhancement. If the upper lip is long and thin, a lip lift with hidden incisions below the nose or at the border will improve the appearance. Also, the lip may be augmented further by "rolling it outward," utilizing incisions inside the lip (hidden in the mouth). This helps to contribute to a "pouty" look.
It is important when addressing facial esthetics to accurately identify all anatomic areas of concern. Many times a patient may seek rhinoplasty when, in actuality, a chin implant with a modest nasal refinement would achieve the best esthetic results.
Individuals who may be good candidates for facial implants include those who were born with small chins and flat cheeks, as well as those who have suffered a loss of facial bone structure due to osteoporosis. The latter condition is most notable in the jawbone. Whether a patient's chin is small naturally or as a result of osteoporosis, facial implants can provide a youthful, proportional facial profile.
Most of the facial implants we use are made of an FDA-approved material called ePTFE (Gore-Tex™). This material has been used in patients for over a decade with minimal risk. The main risk is implant infection, which requires removal, clearance of the infection, and replacement. Fortunately, because of our experience and expertise, we are proud to report an extremely low incidence of infection compared to incidences reported in current literature. Infection occurs in less than one percent of our patients.
Balancing the facial skeleton through implants often complements other procedures. It is very common to add a chin implant with a reduction rhinoplasty. Also, chin and cheek implants may further accent the results of facelift and eyelid surgery.
Another technique used to improve the contour of the face is more often associated with contouring of the body. Liposuction can reduce fatty deposits in the cheeks, chin, jaw, or neck - areas that won't yield to diet or exercise. If you've been able to shape up your body, but your face doesn't match, consider facial liposuction. Your face is the first thing most people notice about you. At Aesthetic Specialty Centre, we can make sure their first impression of you is a good one.

Aesthetic Specialty Centre is one of only a few clinics in the country performing the most modern otoplasty techniques. Prominent ears are considered a distraction from the normal appearance, as indicated by psychological studies and scientific facial esthetics analysis. Nothing is more telling of this phenomenon than the ridicule endured by children with "Mickey Mouse ears" or "Dumbo ears." Otoplasty offers a solution to this ridicule. Once the ears have taken full shape, which is usually around five to six years of age, otoplasty can be performed. We generally perform this procedure on children before they begin school to avoid ridicule.
Adults also can benefit from otoplasty. Large or asymmetric ears or lobes that are longer or shorter than the norm can damage a person's self-confidence.
The surgeon usually begins the procedure by making incisions behind the ears and "pinning" them back. Occasionally some cartilage may be folded or removed. As the ear ages, cartilage becomes stiffer, sometimes requiring further surgery. If the ear is soft and pliable, as it usually is in younger patients, an incisionless otoplasty procedure can be performed. This procedure involves simply bending the ear to a less obvious shape with a suture and needle under local anesthesia. This is truly an innovative procedure offered at only a few clinics around the world.
Postoperatively, otoplasty patients may be required to wear a light, compressive dressing over the ears and follow simple instructions for incision care. Pain is usually very slight. Risks are minimal, but include infection and temporary bruising.
If the rigors of life have left you with a furrowed brow, but you're not ready for a surgical solution, consider BOTOX® Cosmetic injections. Using a very fine needle, a purified protein substance is injected into the forehead to block nerve impulses to the muscles. As the muscles relax, your wrinkles smooth out, giving you a more rested, youthful appearance.
Visible relaxation of the brow furrows should take just a few days. Maximum results are achieved in about a month and can last for three to four months. For patients who want to continue to enjoy the benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic injections, we recommend treatments every four months.
The layer of skin just below the surface of the face includes a network of supportive collagen fibers that keep young skin smooth. As we age, the collagen diminishes and allows the skin to form small depressions in which wrinkles form. Aesthetic Specialty Centre, we administer EVOLENCE®, RESTYLANE®, RADIESSE®, JUVEDERM® and SCULPTRA® to replace what time has taken away. An infusion of Injectable fillers will restore support to the treated area, raise the depressions, and smooth out the wrinkles.
Juvederm® is the newest FDA approved injectable filler. It consists of a hylauranic acid that is found in the body, so there is no allergy skin test required. Juvederm® provides natural and beautiful results that last up to a year on average. This is a great filler that allows you to "try on" fuller lips before committing to a permanent enhancement.
